Educational Leadership:Schools as Learning Communities:What Is a Professional Learning Community?
Everyday I get the great opportunity to work with colleagues! I learn from each and every one of them all the time. I enjoy having discussions, sharing ideas, debating research and solving problems. There are many colleagues I would consider part of my Professional Learning Community. I have different communities for different learning needs - I feel fortunate to know that these individuals are there to support me as a learner and educator! They are often just an email or a phone call away.

Common Core Social Studies and TCI | TCI
Last article I am going to share this week. This comes from TCI (Teacher's Curriculum Institute). We currently use TCI curriculum materials in our K - 8 classrooms. I am so excited about my work with staff and the TCI materials. This article caught my eye and helps to identify how our elementary and middle school materials suppor the Common Core State Standards.

Reading: A Position Statement of the International Reading Association
"Most children can, and do, learn to read and write. But too many children read and write poorly. When schools fail to teach any child to read and write, they fail all of us. We must ensure that all children receive the excellent instruction and support they need to learn to read and write. In this document, the International Reading Association reviews the challenges schools face and outlines support children need to become competent readers and writers."
