For the past two years I have been working on new science curriculum.  At our meetings we have been talking about 21st Century Skills and how each child in the U.S. needs 21st century knowledge and skills to succeed as effective citizens, workers and leaders.

There is a gap between the knowledge and skills most students learn in school and the knowledge and skills they need in typical 21st century communities and workplaces.  We need to teach curriculum content and the 21st Century skills so our students can successfully face rigorous higher education coursework, career challenges and a globally competitive workforce.

What are 21st Century Skills?
They are:

Learning and Innovation Skills: Learning to Create Together
Critical Thinking & Problem Solving
Communication & Collaboration
Creativity & Innovation
Digital Literacy Skills: Info-savvy, Media-fluent, Tech-tuned
Information Literacy
Media Literacy
ICT Literacy
Career and Life Skills: Work-ready, Prepared for Life
Flexibility & Adaptability
Initiative & Self-direction
Social & Cross-cultural Skills
Productivity & Accountability
Leadership & Responsibility

Schedule a planning session with me today, and we can start the discussion of 21st Century Skills for your students!
